Codfathers Fish Market at Harbour Quay has reopened and Dale Leier is welcoming long time customers of the late Max Ryberg back for fresh fish and seafood. The same staff are still on board, including long-tme employee Colleen McDonald but the shop has been renovated and Leier and his partners have plans to expand the business to include new products and distribution of Codfathers signature smoked salmon and hand-peeled shrimp to grocery stores and restaurants on Vancouver Island. 250-723-7114 or find them on Facebook.

Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce Membership elected their new board May 24 during their AGM at Chances Rim Rock.

New president of the board is Brad Minton, a retired financial planner who now lives in Port Alberni but has served with the chamber and other boards in Courtenay. Jan Lavertu of Home Hardware will continue as past president. Deb Haggard of Community Futures is first vice president and Kris Patterson of Pacific Chevrolet continues as second vice.

Sarah Jones of Walk the Coast will serve as secretary. New to the board, serving as treasurer is Taurean Seib of Coastal Community Credit Union, who has served with another BC chamber.
