Uptown Port Alberni’s businesses were hopping with Moonlight Madness

Late-night shopping event was a retail kick-off to the holiday season

Uptown Port Alberni merchants got into the holiday spirit with their Moonlight Madness event on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Christmas lights have appeared on the trees and streets of upper Third Avenue and Argyle Street, in the Rotary Arts District.

Shops stayed open late, their windows festooned with Christmas decorations. Santa Claus and the Grinch made appearances at Steampunk Cafe and Coffee House, and carollers wandered from store to store singing.

The Salvation Army’s foyer was filled with Christmas decorations for people to purchase, and they did a brisk business too.

Santa Claus will be back at Steampunk Cafe and Coffee House the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 6, and some of the shops on the same block of Third Avenue will stay open late too.
