Salvation Army kettle campaign underway in Alberni
The Salvation Army’s kettle campaign has kicked off for another holiday season.
The Salvation Army’s goal this year is to raise $50,000 through the campaign.
The kettles will be located at various locations around the city, such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Safeway, Fairway Market, Quality Foods and Buy-Low Foods.
The campaign raises funds to provide Christmas hampers to needy families in the community
It also supports the needs of low income people by helping them with clothing, replacement furniture and food hampers throughout the year.
The Salvation Army helps between 400-600 families per month.
More volunteers are needed to carry out the campaign to make it successful.
Community groups like Kinsmen and Rotary help fill the void by sponsoring kettles for a day. Church do the same.
