The Salvation Army is building a village out of non-perishable items in the front window of its thrift store on Third Avenue this week. The village will stock the community food bank and bring attention to Hunger Awareness Week.
Although the project is fun, it underlines a serious issue, says Salvation Army Major Bruce Mac Kenzie: “Our cupboards are running low.”
