Arts Around Alberni: show going, new show coming

Last chance for conglomerART

This is the final week to view the work of Jim Kermeen at the Rollin Art Centre, in his first exhibit ever showcasing a mix of colourful acrylic paintings. ConglomerART is only up until March 8.  The Rollin Art Centre is open Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Argyle Street. Admission is by donation and we are wheelchair accessible.

Global photos next on tap

The Rollin Art Centre is excited about our next art exhibit which will showcase Port Alberni-based husband and wife photographers Ati and Orsi Gereb.

The title of this incredible selection of vivid photographs is Women and Children from around the World. This exhibit will run from March 12 to April 10. An artist reception will take place Saturday, March 16 from 1–3 p.m.

Have food with philosophy

This is an open invitation to all in Port Alberni to attend the next meeting of Food and Filosophy on Monday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. at Dolce Vita. Guest speaker will be Neil Malbon from the chamber of commerce and McLean Mill, and he will bring attendees up to date with the chamber’s activities.

We still need your books

The Community Art Council’s annual book sale, taking place this year on May 11, is getting closer. As this is our biggest fundraiser for the year, the Community Arts Council needs the public’s help. Please consider dropping off all your gently used books, puzzles and CDs to the Rollin Art Centre. There is a large wooden box located under the stairs, just inside the front door.

Unfortunately we cannot take encyclopedias, text books or library books. Thank you for your continued support.

It’s madness at the Capitol

This musical satire, based on the 1936 cult classic of the same name, ignites the stage at the Capitol with a live band, singing and dancing.

Tickets are now available at the Rollin Art Centre, the Capitol box office and online at www.atthecapitol.org. Tickets are $20 in advance.
