Prepare for a holiday extravaganza at The Grove Art Gallery at Port Alberni’s Harbour Quay.

Mistletoe Market, which opened at the gallery on Nov. 14, presents a destination for distinctive gifts crafted by local talents. This seasonal market will run until Dec. 23. The Grove Art Gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will be able to kick off the holidays at Harbour Quay on Friday, Dec. 1 with the annual Christmas Light-Up starting at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy music from Alberni District Secondary School band students, sing along with Timbre! Choir, snap photos with Santa and explore the shops until 8 p.m. The tree-lighting ceremony starts at 6 p.m.

Dec. 1 and 2 will also be membership appreciation days at The Grove Art Gallery. Enjoy discounts, hot apple cider and treats, and renew your membership for 2024 at 2023 rates.

DISCOVER THE ART OF SCARF DYEING

On Nov. 25, join us for a scarf dyeing workshop with Janet Finch, presented by The Community Arts Council and the Alberni Valley Fibre Guild.

This creative experience runs from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Grove Art Gallery. Registration is $50, including supplies. Bring gloves and an apron. Spots are limited, so act fast!

CREATE YOUR OWN HOLIDAY GNOME

Join us at The Grove Art Gallery on Dec. 8 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a festive workshop to make your own holiday gnome. This workship will be led by Cheryl Frehlich and the $60 fee covers all materials. Register by calling 250-724-3412 or visit us at The Grove Art Gallery.

FIBRE GUILD

The Alberni Valley Fibre Guild is looking for donations of fibre equipment, such as looms and spinning wheels. Since storage is limited, they are requesting only lap or table-sized looms for now. Equipment will be used for teaching and learning purposes. If you have equipment you would like to donate, please email WestCoast-Fibre@proton.me.
