The workshop takes place Saturday, Oct. 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Grove Art Gallery. The cost is $80, plus $50 for all supplies. Register at 250-724-3412. Space is limited.

CHRISTMAS AT THE MILL

The Community Arts Council is excited to announce a “Christmas at the Mill” artisan market, in partnership with McLean Mill, on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Get a jump on the holidays, while supporting local creatives at this fun, one-day event. The main building and outside courtyard will be filled with artisans of all types, including pottery, glass, jewellery, paintings, wood carvings, paverpol, silk, candles, fabric art, textiles, gnomes, glass, crochet and more.

Big Smoke food truck will also be on site if you need to fill your tummy with amazing food.

LIVE AUCTION FUNDRAISER

Join us on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. down at the Grove Art Gallery for this ticketed event, celebrating art, music, fun, food and wine.

The Community Arts Council will be joining forces with Arrowsmith Rotary for a two-week art exhibit beginning Oct. 31. It will end with a live auction, featuring special guest auctioneer city councillor Charles Mealey, catered food by Grassroots, wine, music by Dennis Olsen and Guy Langlois and a chance to check out the art being auctioned.

Tickets are now on sale the Grove Art Gallery for $40 (tickets include food and one drink). This is a fundraiser and all proceeds go to support local arts and artisans, as well as Rotary literacy and bursary programs.

MISTLETOE MARKET SEEKS ARTISANS

The Community Arts Council is seeking new and past participating artisans to display their work for this Alberni Valley tradition. Mistletoe Market runs from Nov. 14 to Dec. 23 at the Grove Art Gallery and is a great way to showcase your work. This is not a typical market, as the art gallery takes on a holiday flare. If you are interested, please call us at 250-724-3412 for details, email us at communityarts@shaw.ca or stop by to see us at the Harbour Quay.

BACK IN TIME

There are only a few weeks remaining to check out the current art exhibit, “Back in Time,” at the Grove Art Gallery. This exhibit centres around local photographic images of the Alberni Valley (supplied by the Alberni Valley Museum) taken during the turn of the century.

This is truly a fun and exciting exhibit, showcasing some of the Valley’s many creatives, including Tom and Judy Schmidt, Guy Langlois, Cheryl Frehlich, Phyllis Davenport, Lorne MacNab, Desnesige Zvonarova, Lind Campbell, Mary-Ann McGrath, Janet Finch, Shauna Seigmiller, Sandra Rose, Katie Grieve, Sheri Reed, Victo-ria Roscoe-Romunais, Faye Hoffman, Ali Penko, Michelle Harding, Sandra Ethier, Jim Sears, Carol Novak, Elizabeth Yeun, Shelley Penner, Cynthia Bonesky, Robert Gunn, Rosemary Wilson, Laurie Blakely and Greg Alkerton.

This exhibit runs until Oct. 27.
