Beginners and experienced artists alike are invited to join Port Alberni’s Jim Sears in exploring the art that can be created with coloured pencils.

The Basic Coloured Pencil Workshop will take place Saturday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $75. To register, call 250-724-3412 or visit the Grove Art Gallery at Harbour Quay.

It’s almost time for our annual fundraising book sale at the Grove Art Gallery.

Drop your off gently used books (and puzzles) at our front door in the big wooden white box. The Grove Art Gallery is located at #7-5440 Argyle Street (Harbour Quay) and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

While we appreciate all your donations, we cannot accept textbooks, magazines, National Geographic, encyclopedias or Reader’s Digest.

UPCOMING EXHIBITION

Explore the vibrant worlds of local artists Cairis Wall and Lorne McNab in the upcoming duo exhibit, “Neon & Nature” at the Grove Art Gallery. This exhibit opens Feb. 22 and runs until March 22.

Witness the fusion of mixed media, abstract art, pen and ink with watercolors, as these two artists seamlessly collaborate. This exhibit promises a visually enchanting experience.

CALL TO ARTISTS

If you’re eager to showcase your artistic prowess, consider embarking on a creative journey with our open spring art exhibition, “When Colour Speaks to You – IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION” at the Grove Art Gallery. Artists of all mediums are invited to submit up to three pieces for this unique exhibit.

Detailed submission information is available at the gallery or online at www.alberniarts.com. The exhibit will run from March 26 to April 26.

GREATER VICTORIA POLICE CHORUS

Immerse yourself in an afternoon of song with a special spring fundraising concert presented by the Community Arts Council, featuring the Greater Victoria Police Chorus. This concert will take place on Sunday, April 14 at the ADSS Auditorium from 2-4 p.m. Tickets are priced at $30 and can be purchased at the Grove Arts Gallery at Harbour Quay.

PAVERPOL WORKSHOP

Dive into a new medium with a Two-Day Beginner Paverpol Workshop by Cheryl Frehlich, using the environmentally-safe textile hardener Paverpol. The workshop will take place March 16 and March 23 (10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days) and the cost is $165 (including most supplies). Register at 250-724-3412.

ACRYLIC PAINTING WORKSHOPS

Artist Susan Schaefer will hold a pair of acrylic painting workshops at the Grove Art Gallery. Register at 250-724-3412.

- Explore the art of painting waves in the “Making Waves” workshop on April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $125.

- Discover the beauty of a “Limited Palette” in the workshop on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., also priced at $125.
