Elise LeBlanc brings old-school country dance to Port Alberni

Beginner dancers are welcome at Char’s Landing

A Vancouver Island-based alt-country songwriter will be bringing an old-school country concert and dance to Char’s Landing in Port Alberni.

Elise LeBlanc of Cumberland invites Port Alberni residents to grab their neighbours and step back in time for a show on Friday, Dec. 8. Beginner dancers are welcome—LeBlanc and her string band The Ridgeriders will teach you the steps.

The show will feature original music from LeBlanc’s new record “The Fiddle & The Fire” and a set of classic honky-tonk and western swing tunes from the 1930s-50s. She says her band will have you singin’ and two-steppin’ the night away to classics by Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells and more.

Backed by her string band The Ridgeriders, LeBlanc’s rich storytelling comes to life with guitar, fiddle, mandolin and upright bass. Together, the band creates a signature retro sound with soulful, old-timey harmonies. Boots, big hats and bolo ties are strongly encouraged

Char’s Landing is LeBlanc’s third stop on her first Vancouver Island record release tour. The show takes place Friday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). Tickets can be found at eliseleblanc.bpt.me.
