Montréal-based folk artist Jesse Speed is playing Char’s Landing tonight (Tuesday, June 20) at 7 p.m.
Behind the scenes of today’s hyper-social conventions, Speed is a lone wolf. Subtly enigmatic, on stage he is intriguingly comfortable yet remains unmistakably honest. His lyrics describe modern social archetypes, emotionally charged personal portraits and fictive memories from a parallel existence. His sound’s depth is built from minimalism, not heavy arrangements.
Speed has been compared to artists like Bonnie Prince Billy and Timber Timbre. He grew up on a farm in Quebec’s South-West and is now based in Montreal.
Tickets for the show are $10.
