Vancouver-based hip hop artist, Blak Ace, is brining his west coast infused, world-class beats to Port Alberni to promote his latest album Heavenz Gates, his body positive modeling campaign and the release of his fourth single and music video; 604.

The Phizzo Entertainment artist is set to head out on a summer tour—Angelz & Demonz—through B.C. and Alberta with the first stop in Port Alberni on Friday, June 2 at Char’s Landing. Joining Blak Ace on the tour are artists Decibel and Adequate.

Ace’s single My Passion won the Akademia award for Best Rap Music Video of the year with more than 100,000 views on YouTube.

“My sound, I would say is West Coast, I’m born and bred in Vancouver so Id definitely say West Coast and Canadian,” Blak Ace said. “I talk about Vancouver a lot and I’m sure I’m going to have a lot to say about Port Alberni too.”

Blak Ace is well known in Vancouver’s hip hop, urban and rap culture and has opened up for renowned hip hop artists like E40, 2 Live Crew and Jadakiss.

Since a young age Ace has been immersed in music and continues to develop himself as a performer.

“Ever since being young I was doing piano recitals to break dancing. Then I started getting more into poetry writing and some spoken word stuff,” Blak Ace said. “That just kind of translated into performing and rapping over beats and just kind of grew from there.”

Blak ace said audiences can expect a lively involved show from a live performance.

“I think a part of being an emcee is you’re there to move the crowd, so their involvement is just as important as the beat that I’m rapping over. They can expect to be involved and they might lose their voice at some point but that’s okay,” he laughs.

The summer tour will double as a video release party where Ace will show audiences his latest music videos.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Call Char’s at 778-421-2427 to charge by phone or order online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2958409. Doors at 9 p.m.
