Salt Spring Island artist Sharon Bailey will get the crowd dancing at Char’s Landing in Port Alberni on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Bailey takes an Americana playbook and translates it into an original blend of alt country, folk roots and rock. Her new album Play Me A Song has been charting on independent radio alt-country/roots charts across Canada this summer, including National Song of the Day for the song “No Bright Morning.”

After years of playing venues and festivals across western Canada with both Kat Wahamaa and Tuepelo Honey, and opening for acts such as Michelle Shocked and Lynn Miles, Bailey turned to renowned Vancouver Island musician Adam Dobres to produce her new album. Taking inspiration from artists such as Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams and Natalie Merchant, the songs reflect on her urban origins, her new rural realities and the positive power of music itself.

Bailey will be joined by band members Tyler Lieb (pedal steel and guitar), Alan Kerr (upright bass) and Pat McCallum (drums) for an up-tempo night out.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). Tickets are available at sharonbaileyband.bpt.me.
