Close to 400 women will be participating in the West Coast Dragon Boat Society’s ladies regatta on Sproat Lake on Sunday, June 11.

There are 18 teams coming from around the Island to compete in the races.

Races begin at 9 a.m. from the Sproat Lake Provincial Park where a food vendor will be set up serving breakfast and lunch.

“We race three races each and there’s three different boats that weigh different amounts, so each team races in each boat and then we combine the times,” said Gail Horvath, president of the West Coast Dragon Boat Society.
