Thanks so much to Cathy Ferster and staff of Twin Travel & Cruises for their sponsorship of another successful scramble in the Alberni Golf Club’s men’s golf league. The weather was good and the course is looking better each week, thanks to superintendent Steve White and his crew.
There was a tie for first place between two teams, and the winner by retrogression was the awesome team of Ted Stewart, Darrell VanOs, Gary Korven and Gerry Fagan, rah rah rah! Coming in second place was the team of Fred Fredrickson, Steve White, Darren VanDyk and Devin Cusson.
Capturing third place was the group of Tyler Robinson, Don MacGowan, Steve Pointon and Gary McLeod. In fouth place was the team of Preben Rasmussen, Dave Mann, Vic Carlton and Justin Sketch. Fifth place went to Lloyd Fairley, Jim Rhodes, Jack Sparks and Wolf Shur, and the final prize went to the foursome of Glen Trask, Chris Owen, Bill Bjornson and Ed Byrne.
Closest to the pins were won by Brian Tall on No. 2, Wayne Johnstone won the Charity Closest to the pin on No. 4 (collecting $25), No. 13 was won by Gary Korven, and on No. 17 by Bob Matlock.
This Sunday, May 21 is a Stableford event sponsored by G.D. Auto. This is a play your own ball format, with the KPs and money pots up for grabs. The scoring is as follows: double bogie or worse, minus 1 point, bogie, no points, par, plus 1 point, birdie, plus 2 points, eagle, plus 3 points, double eagle, plus 6 points.
Please register in the pro shop in your own group or as a single, no later than 2 pm on Saturday, May 20. The shotgun start is at 8:30 am Sunday.
