Alberni man convicted of sex crimes

A 31-year-old Port Alberni resident will be spending more than two years in prison for sex crimes.

In Port Alberni Provincial Court on May 28, Judge J. MacCarthy sentenced Jason Steinbach, 30, to 32 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to sex crimes. A publication ban prevents the News from citing the exact charges or any other details.

Steinbach’s probation conditions include a firearms ban for 10 years and submitting a sample of his DNA to the federal criminal data bank.
