Five Port Alberni residents are facing drug charges after two separate police busts netted cash, crack and BC bud.

Both incidents occurred on June 27.

In the first incident, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 3200 block of Fourth Avenue between Strathern and Athol Streets. Police found a cache of crack cocaine and money at the residence, which they referred to as a “suspected drug trafficking hub”.

Three Port Alberni residents were arrested and are facing charges of possession and trafficking cocaine.

Later that same day, police executed a second search warrant at a residence in the 4800 block of Dunbar Street, which they also referred to as a suspected drug trafficking location.

The bust yielded several pounds of marijuana, which police said was a small-scale grow operation. A man and woman were arrested and face charges of drug possession and trafficking.

Anyone with information about drug activity in their neighbourhood are encouraged to contact the local police detachment at 250-723-2424 or report the information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-247-TIPS (8477).
