6.3 magnitude earthquake reported in ocean west of Port Hardy
The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that a 6.3 magnitude has struck off the west coast of Vancouver Island. The quake hit approximately 182 kilometres (113 miles) south-southwest of Port Hardy in the Pacific Ocean, at a depth of 16.6 kilometres (13.3 miles).
There has been no advisory issued from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.
This quake follows a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Haida Gwaii on Oct. 27. Very little damage was recorded.
