A snowstorm that has hit central and eastern Vancouver Island has forced the closure of Highway 4 east of Port Alberni until at least 3:30 p.m., while Emcon highways crews and RCMP deal with several stuck trucks. That means traffic is not moving between Cathedral Grove and Port Alberni over the Hump.

RCMP are warning drivers to avoid the area.

No injuries have been reported from the area at this time.

Highway 4 west of Port Alberni at Sutton Pass is also covered in snow.
