An arrest has been made in connection with robberies at two Alberni gas stations.

Police have recommended two robbery charges against Alberni resident Wyatt John Carlsen, 18, an RCMP press release said.

These charges are in connection to the Jan. 13 robbery of Petro Canada and the Feb. 5 robbery of Chevron

Town Pantry, where a machete was brandished by a suspect.

Carlsen was arrested and taken into custody on Feb. 8 after police served him a search warrant. Carlsen was released from custody after appearing in Port Alberni Provincial Court on Feb. 11.

His next court appearance is in March.

The investigation is ongoing and RCMP asks that anyone who witnessed either incident, or can provide additional information, contact the local detachment at 250-723-2424, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS
