An arrest has been made in the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man in Port Alberni.
Acting on a tip, RCMP swarmed around Dry Creek Park at 2:15 on Monday, RCMP Cpl. Jen Allan said.
A police dog team tracked the man along the creek then flushed him out. He was apprehended on Frank Street after a short foot chase.
Allan couldn't initially say how old the suspect but did say he is known to police.
On Monday morning, police found a 21-year-old male suffering from a stab wound, Allan said.
The man was transported to West Coast General Hospital where he died of his injuries shortly after.
The incident originally happened at a residence in the 4800 block of Redford Street, Allan said.
The name of the victim isn't being released. He isn't someone known to police, she added.
