Julian Fell, with the BCConservatives, has entered the race for Mid Island Pacific Rim MLA.

Fell, representative of Coombs-Errington at the Regional District of Nanaimo, said his party has no connection to the Ottawa Conservatives. He says the BCConservatives are a grass-roots, made in B.C. party who aim to put B.C. first.

“The issues that I think should be addressed are not being addressed,” he said.

According to Fell, the BCConservative position is: the province in not your mother or your nanny. The government should insure the provision of useful infrastructure and necessary services but should otherwise stay out of people’s lives, opinions, religions and personal choices.

Fell is passionate about global warming, financial recklessness, housing unaffordability and homelessness, fading democracy and rural physician shortages and hospital waits.

“My principal issue is, I have a science background, and after watching the so-called global warming issue, it’s now absolutely clear that carbon dioxide has nothing to do with warming or cooling of the planet. It’s thermally neutral and the real cause of global temperature change is the amount of sunlight going into the ocean, which is adjusted by cloud cover and is ultimately controlled by sun spots.”

To this point, Fell says the first step in positive manifestation is to get rid of the carbon tax that he says is serving no useful purpose.

In addition Fell believes there is a terrible problem in the province with homelessness and unaffordable housing.

“It’s a simple supply and demand situation. Too much demand, not enough supply, it’s a bidding war. The guy with the money wins,” he said. “We need right away at least 200,000 low-cost residences. My party has a plan to do that.”

The BCConservatives also believe in prudent and transparent financial management.

“We are very conservative in financing fiscal matters,” he said. “We believe in a balanced budget…provincial debt is now $65 billion. The provincial budget is near $50 billion, interest payment alone each year is $4.5 billion which is nine per cent of the budget. The province is becoming an agency that collects money from taxpayers and gives it to banks.”

Fell said the current three parties (NDP, Liberal, Green) are not promising any change.

“Our view is there isn’t any free lunch, you can’t spend what you don’t have,” he said. “The province should provide useful services and infrastructure and other than that it should mind its own business and stay out of your life.”

Fell added that by electing a BCConservative “you get someone with a voice.”

“If you elect the other party you get a back bencher who is not allowed to speak out, who has to toe the party line,” he said.

“If you elect a BCConservative you’ve got a sane voice that’s opposed to budget imbalances and a plan to at least address the issue of housing shortfalls. We’re taking about political correctness…and we’re fighting what I call climate fraud.”
