Suspected human remains found in Dry Creek on Third Avenue by Smitty’s restaurant Saturday morning have turned out to be fake.

“At approximately 10:45 a.m. Saturday, police received a call about possible human remains found in the creek beside Smitty’s,” RCMP watch commander Cpl. Jason Racz said.

The RCMP forensics team attended and examined items found in the creek, he said. “They were examined and determined not to be human.”

They were in fact Halloween decorations, Cpl. Amelia Hayden said. “They were fake.”

Crime tape was taken down after noon and the area cleared.
