Fefe, a seven-year-old Collie mix, will be sent to Victoria on April 27 for a specialist’s referral, thanks to the public’s many donations.

Fefe is in need of a tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO) cruciate repair on it’s right rear leg—a surgery that will cost $5,000.

After an appeal from the Port Alberni SPCA for community support, donations have flooded in to help Fefe.

Irene Towell, Port Alberni SPCA manager, said $4,555 has been raised so far.

“We would like to thank everyone who donated,” she said. “We are very grateful.”

After Fefe’s referral with an orthopedic specialist in Victoria, a surgery date should be set.

For Fefe’s after care it is not yet determined whether the dog will stay in Victoria or come back to Port Alberni.

“It would be easier for after care that Fefe stay in Victoria, she would be closer for follow-up appointments,” Towell said.”There’s a good chance she will get adopted there.”

Towell said she will update the public as to where Fefe will end up post-surgery.
