Port Alberni’s old focal point sign which used to welcome visitors coming into the city from the east coast of Vancouver Island may get a new lease on life.
Mayor John Douglas said it was recently discovered unprotected in the open yard at the Port Authority site.
It is hoped that the sign will be refurbished with the help of the woodworking students at Alberni District Secondary School and then put somewhere in the community.
Coun. Cindy Solda suggested the person who made the sign be contacted for input on the refurbishing.
