Barrie passed away peacefully on July 13, 2017 at the age of 79.
Predeceased by his parents Sandy and Evelyn Forbes; brother Percy; sisters Arlene, Patricia, and Verna. Survived by his wife of 53 years Marilynn; sons Bruce (Debi), Brian (Diane), and Alan (Theresa). He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Daley, Sydney, and Ian who will miss him greatly, as well as his sisters Jeanette (Ron) Salsman and Muriel (Ed) Chenard, as well as extended family.
Barrie enjoyed his working life in the various positions he held within the logging industry. He was a family man whose passion was his family and friends. He always had a great love for airplanes and flying, receiving his Pilot’s License at the age of 17. He continued his interest and passion for flying throughout his life and felt fortunate that he had 60 years of flying before his health failed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Alberni District Secondary School Auditorium, 4000 Roger St, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 0B1.
