We are very sad to announce the passing of Franciscus (Frank) De Ben, aged 94 years, on Dec 31, 2016 in Parksville, BC. He leaves behind his beloved wife Adele; the love of his life. They were married for 63 years. Frank was born Sept 20 1922 in Beveren, Belgium and emigrated with Adele to Canada in the early sixties. They eventually settled in the Alberni Valley where Frank worked in the Pulp and Paper Mill until his retirement. Frank had many passions and talents; he was renowned for his beautiful and innovative flower and vegetable gardens, stone masonry, wood and stone carving and watercolour painting. Together with Adele he volunteered for many years of service at Echo Village Retirement Home. His eye for beauty, his talent, and craftsmanship in all that he did inspired his many friends and family. He will be forever missed by Adele and his nieces Veerle, Anne-Marie, Inge and their families as well as sister-in-law Ingrid and extended family in Belgium. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Marie. No service by Frank’s request.
