Joan passed away peacefully in her sleep in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital December 15, 2016 at 87 years of age. She is survived by brothers Norman Beverly Coughlan and Donald Joseph Coughlan as well as nieces, cousins and other relatives.
Joan graduated as a registered nurse from Ottawa Civic Hospital and practiced nursing with the Victorian Order of Nurses and volunteered within the community for many years. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Holy Family Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church 4731 Burke Rd., Port Alberni with Father Stephen Paine officiating. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
