DOL, Joe passed away peacefully in the West Coast General Hospital on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the age of 79.

Predeceased; son Aaron; brothers Peter, Johan, Jake and Theo as well as sister Anna. Joe is survived by wife Terri; children Darryl and family of Port Alberni, step-sons Denis (Sandra) and family of Smithers, Paul (Shannon) and family of Port Alberni and Garry (Leanne) and family from Australia; grandchildren Aaryll, Niki (Brad), Kylla; great grandchild Michael; brothers John (Janet) of Qualicum, Neil (Mary Lou) of London Ontario, Anton (Diane) of Port Alberni, Martin (Lyne) of Port Alberni, Bill (Donna) of Port Alberni, Gerrit (Gloria) of Victoria, Frank (Audrey) of Maple Ridge, Lou (Yvonne) of Courtenay; sisters Rita of Calgary, Martha (Bill) of Lethbridge, Margaret (Con) of Kelowna and Cathy of Port Alberni; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joe immigrated to Canada in 1950. Joe lived in Diamond City as well as High River, Alberta before his arrival in Port Alberni in 1954. He worked at various jobs before finding employment at the Somass Mill. In 1990 Joe retired from the Mill after over 30 years. When not working at the Mill and spending time with his family, he spent many hours volunteering at John Paul II School doing much needed renovations as well as volunteering at Holy Family/Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, April 23, 2016 from Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni with Father Stephen Paine officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to John Paul II Catholic School, 4006 – 8th Ave, Port Alberni,
