McMurdo, June passed away in West Coast General Hospital on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the age of 81 years.
Predeceased by husband Peter, sisters Norine Clark and Hazel Ferguson as well as infant son Robert.
June is survived by children, Margaret (Brian), David (Caroline), Alan, Tom (Linda); grandchildren Kathy (Brad), Brent (Rhonda), Olivia (Grant), Trevor (Randi), Brandon (Kortney), Justin (Kaththea), Jason (Ellie); 8 great grandchildren as well as brother Norman, and many nephews and nieces.
Born in Vancouver, June and her family came to the Valley in the mid 1940's in search of work. She met and married Peter at the tender age of 16. June was known for her grace and kindness and for the special bond she and Peter shared.
A devoted mother, family was her life. She enjoyed bowling, camping at Mactush and Toquart Bay as well as traveling with their friends. A favourite family memory is watching the fireworks on Halloween from their living room with a staple supply of Cheezies and Bacardi rum.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 21 at 1:00 pm at the Italian Hall, 4065 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in June's name to the West Coast General Hospital Foundation, 3949 Alberni Hwy, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 4S1.
