May 21, 1928 - October 16, 2015
Mae Selena Hunter passed away peacefully at her residence in Parksville, BC, on October 16, 2015 at the age of 87 years.
Mae was predeceased by her parents and three sisters. She is survived by children, Craig, Todd, Marc (Angela), Lori Currell (Bruce), Grant (Deborah), and by 13 grandchildren, Aaron, Patrik, Aimee, Robert, Michel, Chantelle, Akela, Joel, Nathan, Brooklyn, Tyanna, Stephen & Nicholas and great grandchildren.
Mae was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, but lived most of her life in Port Alberni, BC, where she raised her 5 children. Mae was an
accomplished and independent woman who will be remembered for her feisty personality and mischievous sense of humour. On
November 5, 1986 , at a time of life when many would be planning on slowing down, Mae graduated from the University of Victoria
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the age of 58. Mae loved art and animals, especially horses which were predominately featured
in the many drawings and paintings that Mae created. Her artwork was displayed in galleries and homes here and abroad. A few
years ago, Mae achieved yet another dream by publishing a book of her artwork that chronicled her progression as an artist and
was a reflection of her most heartfelt passions in life such as the preservation of the Roosevelt Elk and Vancouver Island Marmot.
In later years she moved to Parksville BC, and spent the remainder of her days in Stanford Place, where she made friends with the
fellow residents and staff.
Mae will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
