Mildred Violet REYNOLDS

Mildred passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her loving husband G. Garnet (Red); sisters Joan, Peggy (Walter), Molly and brother Dwight (Enid). Survived by children Larry Mildred Violet Reynolds Chapel of Memories Funeral Directors entrusted with arrangements. 250-723-3633 (Darlene), Terry (Carolyn), Rhonda (Garry), and Leslie (Maureen); 7 grand children; 8 great grandchildren; Mildred’s sisters, Helene (Laurie) Patten, and Betty (Bill) Shepherdson; Brother-in-laws Don (Cindy) Reynolds, Neil (Judy) Allen; sister-in-law Elsie Reynolds as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. Born in Canada, Mildred was adopted and moved to England at a very young age. While growing up in England during the war years she worked as a welder building bridges. During her time there she met Garnet and the two were married in 1942. Garnet returned to Canada, and Mildred followed as a Canadian/English war bride. The couple moved to Port Alberni to join family here and for Garnet to set up a successful chiropractic practice. Mildred was the consummate hostess and was welcoming and fun loving in everything she became involved in. A strong work ethic, she started working at a florist shop then eventually bought the business and moved the shop Reynolds Flowers to the corner of China Creek and 10th Ave. When not working she was involved in a Bridge club, a supporting member of the choral society and travelled with Garnet for his professional conferences. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at Trinity Anglican Lutheran Church, 4766 Angus with Reverends Diane and Patrick Tomalin officiating. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to Abbeyfield Houses Alberni Valley Society, 3839 – 8th Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y8J6.
