passed away peacefully in West Coast General Hospital on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 94 years of age.
Predeceased by his wife Ruth (2011), brother Alex MacKenzie and sister Lila MacKenzie. Wilfred is survived by his children: Greg (Cheryl) and Trudee, grandchildren: James, Brett and Braidan, great granddaughter Sophia as well as sister Donna Fitch, sister-in-law Marjorie MacKenzie and the many kids that affectionately knew him as granddad.
Wilfred was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt and ski and was even an instructor in his younger days. He worked in the logging sector before starting McKenzie Sporting Goods and later Alberni Lock and Security. He was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served with the RCEME during World War II.
A graveside service to lay his cremated remains to rest will take place at 11:00am on Friday, October 24 at Greenwood Cemetery’s Field of Honour. A celebration of his life will take place from 1:00 until 3:00 on Friday, October 24 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 293, 4680 Victoria Quay.
