To the Editor,

My elderly parents upon visiting Yates’ cemetery in Port Alberni were pleased to be able to be interred in such a peaceful and beautiful spot surrounded by trees.

They have since both passed and my sisters and I visit their plots, sitting on a special granite bench overlooking the cemetery.

Imagine my horror when we visited recently only to find Mosaic has clearcut the land directly beside the cemetery, leaving virtually no trees but instead a sea of torn and gaping wounds in the land.

I appreciate that Mosaic employs townspeople but they have shown that they have no respect for the people of this Valley who have loved ones buried here.
