Celia (played by Morgan Martin) attempts an “enigmatic” smile while Jessie (Laurie Blakely) looks on in the Portal Players Dramatic Society’s production of “Calendar Girls.” The show runs this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Capitol Theatre at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). (ELENA RARDON / Alberni Valley News)

To the Editor,

Recently Portal Players Dramatic Society had to cancel an entire weekend of performances of its production of Calendar Girls due to illness.

We are so grateful to the entire community of Port Alberni as this cancellation was met with kindness and understanding by all of our patrons.

We fielded many calls, emails and in-person chats for people either exchanging their tickets or seeking refunds. We were overwhelmed with the love and support we received during this challenging time.

While we did add three more shows Mar 28, 29 and 30 for people to attend in lieu of those cancelled performances, many people are still waiting to be refunded by the ticketing program we use, ThunderTix. I have spoken to ThunderTix to enquire about some tickets that have not yet been refunded and I was told that some banks and credit cards take longer to return funds than others.

We are working through the emails and voicemail messages and we want everyone to know we will ensure every single person that is owed a refund will receive it.

Liane Fitzpatrick,

PPDS board executive

and director of Calendar Girls,
