Alberni road proposals getting wackier

To the Editor,
A flood of wacky road proposals, including one supported by the AV News, hit the newspapers during the hot dog days of August.
They include a new highway out of town, a roundabout at the junction of River Road with Beaver Creek Road, a ring road which has to cross ravines (say what?), and last, but not least, the only sensible plan—a completion of the waterfront route from Ship Creek Road to Redford Street.
Get on with it, Mayor Douglas and council! Lame duck proposals from various city quacks are getting us nowhere.
And, Mr. Mayor, forget about that cosy hug at the UBCM with Blair Lekstrom, the Minister of Transportation. He’s just announced he’s not running in the next election. Boo hoo!
