To the Editor,
Due to an annual budgetary shortfall of over $400,000, School District 70 plans to end VAST’s lease for a saving of $110,000 and close a school for a saving of $300,000.
The district appears to favour placing VAST students in Wood Elementary and moving the elementary school students elsewhere. Change of use, however, isn’t a school closure and won’t save $300,000.
So in all likelihood, another school will have to be closed. Gill? John Howitt?
So far, obfuscation of the issues is all we’ve heard from the district. Ineptness also comes to mind.
