Bulldogs 2-0 after weekend tilts
The Alberni Valley Bulldogs dispatched the Merritt Centennials and Cowichan Valley Captials to go 2-0 in weekend action.
The Bulldogs overcame a stingy Merritt defense in the first period and went on to beat the Centennials 5-1 in a game at the Multiplex on Saturday night. The Bulldogs were 2-5 on the power play and peppered Merritt with 34 shots. You can read Evan Hammond's blow-by-blow of the game here.
Bulldogs goaltender Jay Deo turned away 39 of 40 shots and was named the game's second all star. Bulldogs Kurt Gosselin notched one goal and two assists to earn first game all star. And Evan Anderson took third all star with three assists.
On Friday, the Bulldogs dispatched the Cowichan Valley Capitals 3-1 in an away game. Bulldogs Jay Deo stopped 37 out of 38 shots and earned the game's first all star. Hammond's got it all here.
The Bulldogs next action is against next Friday and Saturday in back to back games against the Nanaimo Clippers.
