Alberni Bulldogs Anderson commits to Div. 1 university
Who says Alberni Valley Bulldogs' forward Evan Anderson isn't a committed player?
The team has announced that Anderson has committed to a scholarship to play for the NCAA Division One University of Massachusetts-Lowell Riverhawks in 2014-2015.
Anderson, five-foot-eleven 170 pounds, has four goals and eight assists — three of four goals on the power play — over 11 games thus far this season.
“It’s nice to see Evan off to a quick start this season. UMass-Lowell will be very excited when he reaches their program after a junior “A” career,” said Bulldogs head coach Kevin Willison in a press release.
Anderson is following Bulldogs’ alumni Maury Edwards, a Riverhawk from 2007 to 2011 who was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, the Hockey East First All-Star Team, the Hockey East All-
Academic Team, and a New England Division 1 All-Star.
UMass-Lowell has an enrolment of more than 15,000 students. The school offers bachelor, masters, and doctoral degrees in engineering, education, fine arts, health and environment, humanities, liberal arts, management, sciences, and social sciences.
“The school prides itself in its hockey and academic programs which is why I felt it was a perfect fit for me,”Anderson said.
