Alberni's Kuxhaus San Diego bound for lacrosse tourney

Several years ago Riley Kuxhaus traded in his soccer cleats for a lacrosse stick. Now, the Grade 11 student is hoping the switch will translate into a university scholarship.

Kuxhaus has spent the past season playing with the Vancouver Island Seaspray, a high school-aged rep team based out of Victoria.

He practices twice a week and competes on Saturdays with a club team in Nanaimo, and travels to Victoria every second Saturday to practice at UVic.

This week Seaspray teammates and their families headed to San Diego, where they will participate in an 80-team tourney that attracts scouts from across the United States. Seaspray will play a minimum of five games in six days at the Adrenalin Challenge tourney. There are also skills camps and a scouts-choice all-star game.
