Bulldogs nip Kelowna in overtime
The Alberni Valley Bulldogs came back from a 3-0 deficit against the West Kelowna Warriors to win 5-4 in overtime in a home game in Sunday.
Kelowna hushed the crowd and had the Bulldogs on their heels after scoring three goals in the first period. The Bulldogs pulled goalie Brad Rebagliati who let three goals in on 11 shots, and sent in backup Jay Deo, who saved 22 of 23 shots on the night.
The Bulldogs set to work in the second period. Hunter Stewart notched a power play goal to get the Bulldogs on the board. Chase Paylor scored midway through the second and Stewart added another with with a minute left to even the score.
The Bulldogs continued their charge in the third period, taking a 4-3 lead after a goal by Manny Gialedakis. Kelowna evened the score after Josh Monk scored his second forcing overtime.
In OT, Bulldogs Chase Paylor scored on a pass from Evan Tironese to take the game 5-4.
Stewart and Gialedakis were named first and third stars of the game. Kelowna's Seb Lloyd earned second star of the game.
The Bulldogs had 42 shots on goal while Kelowna had 34. Kelowna was 1-4 on the power play while the Bulldogs were 1-8.
The game completes a three game weekend. The Bulldogs beat Powell River 9-1 on Friday but lost to the Victoria Grizzlies 3-1 on Saturday.
