The Alberni Golf Course was much improved this Sunday as compared to last week for regular Men’s League play, but we still have a ways to go. If only the rain would hold off.

Although the conditions weren’t the best, there were some impressive scores recorded. On the gross side, Ted Stewart had thy best of the day, shooting 71, followed by Lloyd Fairley one shot back with 72, and Colton Buffie coming in with 75. On the net side of the day, it was Dave Mann leading the way shooting 65, with Mike Savard recording a 67, then it was Preben Rasmussen with 68, followed by Justin Sketch with 69, then Bill Morin and Jim Proteau both shooting 71

Closest to the pins were won by Cal Davies on No. 2, Jim Proteau won the charity closest to the pin on No. 4 (taking home $25), Preben Rasmussen on No. 13 and Colin Hamilton on No. 17. Dave Mann had the only birdie on No. 4, collecting $100. Next week No. 4 will be worth $25 and No. 2 will be worth $125.

Next Sunday, April 30 will be the Waltz, sponsored by MacDermotts Insurance. The shotgun start will be 9 a.m. This is a four-man team event: pick your own partners and register in the pro shop by 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29. The format is as follows: hole No. 1 record the best net, hole No. 2 record the best two nets, hole No. 3 record the best three nets. Then start over until all 18 holes have been played.

For the first time the men’s club will be having shotgun starts every Sunday for the entire season. This will enable all players to finish their round at approximately the same time.

Please, as a courtesy to our sponsors, could all members stick around and come into the clubhouse for the prize presentation. It will only take about 15 minutes for the committee to do the scoring.

Thanks for your cooperation.
