The VIPW champion defended his title, and as a reward, he’ll have to face five challengers later this winter in a tables, ladders and chairs match.

Cremator Von Slasher, who is from Port Alberni, retained his Vancouver Island Pro Wrestling championship on Saturday, Nov. 25, defeating Tony Baroni in the main event of the Headlocks for Hunger card at Nanaimo’s Departure Bay Activity Centre.

The show featured a series of qualifying matches for a tables, ladders and chairs main event to be held in Nanaimo in the new year. Nanaimo’s Scott Steel and B.J. Laredo both qualified to be part of TLC, as Steel beat Haviko and Erik Strange in a triple-threat match Saturday and Laredo defeated Brett Matthews.

In the other qualifying matches, Eddie Osbourne beat The Ladies’ Choice, Nolan James beat Port Alberni’s Riea Von Slasher and Jordie Taylor beat Xavier Galaxy.

Also at Saturday’s show, the Uprising defeated Osbourne and Bishop in a VIPW tag-team title match.

VIPW’s Headlocks for Hunger is an annual event to gather non-perishable food items for Nanaimo’s Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank.

Cremator will defend his title against Steel, Laredo, Osbourne, James and Taylor in a six-man tables, ladders and chairs match Jan. 20 at the Departure Bay Activity Centre in Nanaimo.
