Golfers tee up for MacDermotts

In Alberni Golf Men’s Club action on Sunday, 55 golfers teed it up for the MacDermotts waltz event. It was great to tee off in the sunshine for a change, although there was a slight shower for about five minutes.

In Alberni Golf Men’s Club action on Sunday, 55 golfers teed it up for the MacDermotts waltz event. It was great to tee off in the sunshine for a change, although there was a slight shower for about five minutes.

The team of Jim Proteau, Bill Morin, Darrell Van Os and Cory Nielson came in first with a score of 123. Next with 124 was won by retrogression the foursome of Mike Savard, Justin Sketch, Colton Buffie and Matt Mesic. Also with 124 was the group of Al Wright, Glen Trask, Fred Fredrickson and Don MacGowen. Then came Preben Rasmussen, Masami Hiriyama, Wayne Johnstone and Colin Hamilton, at 127. In fifth place, with a score of 129, was the team of Brent Tall, Vic Carlton, Wolf Suhr and Ken Fong. In sixth place was Bill Bjornson, Tyler Ibsen, Brian Tall and Cal Davies. Seventh place went to the threesome of Dave Mann, Bill Barrett and Darren Van Dyk. The final prize went to Dennis Frykas, John Panagrot, Jim Rhodes and Ron Barker.

The closest to the pins were won by Darrell Van Os on No. 2., Colin Hamilton won the Charity closest to the pin on No. 4 taking home $ 25, plus another $25 for the only birdie on No. 4, Lloyd Fairley on No, 13 and Ken Fong on No. 17.

Next week, the money pot on No. 4 goes back to $25, while No. 2 will be worth $150.

Next Sunday, May 7 will be an open day, with the usual low gross and low net up for grabs, as well as the money pots and closest to the pins. Be sure to register in the pro shop in your own group for the 8:30 am shotgun start.
