Good weather draws dozens for Easter golfing at Alberni Golf Club

Cheveldave, McChesney top A flight in best gross, best net competition

Easter Sunday proved to be a great day at the Alberni Golf Course, not only was the weather fantastic, but the turnout for Sunday Men’s Club was excellent as 64 players teed it up for the best net and best gross competition.

In the A Flight first gross went to Wayne Cheveldave with a 75, second to Ted Stewart with a 76, followed by Terry Argotow 78, and Colton Buffie 79. On the net side of A flight was Thomas McChesney 69, Bill Barrett 70, Murry Hawkeness 71 and James Haggard 73.

In B Flight the net winner was Rob Larsen 67, followed by Adam Taylor 68, Lloyd Fairley 69, and Hank Krahn 70. Flight C net winners are Cliff O’Laney 71, Drake Poulsen 74, Darren Bellas 74 and Robert Moffat 75. All ties were settled by retrogression. Closest to the pin on No. 2 was Terry Rai, No. 4 was Chris Bird, No. 13 was Hank Krahn and No. 17 was Bill Barrett. The Charity Closest to the pin on No. 7 was won by Mark Zado who collected $91.

Next Sunday’s event will be best gross and best net— every man for himself. Book your own tee time in your own group starting at 8 a.m. and going until 10 a.m. The cost for the day will be $15, which includes prizes, Charity Closest to the pin and the money pot plus all four KPs. This event will be sponsored by Boomerangs Café.
