The ADSS senior girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will host a pair of games on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at the ADSS gym. These will be the final home games for ADSS’ senior squads until they host Totem 68, Jan. 11-13, 2024.

The senior girls will play Timberline at 5 p.m. on Dec. 19 in the ADSS gym. Alberni has won all of its first three exhibition games so far this year.

“We’re off to a good start,” head coach Greg Freethy said. “This group works hard, they have a good attitude and they seem to have a lot of fun.”

This year’s senior girls’ squad includes players from Grades 10, 11 and 12, including a few who played in the ADSS Totem tournament last year. Freethy has spent the past three years coaching the junior girls’ team and has moved up with them to the senior squad. He is also coaching his daughter Ella, who is in Grade 11.

The senior girls placed third at Totem 67 in January 2023 after winning the tourney and playing in the provincials in 2022. They are looking for a win at Totem 68.
