The Port Alberni Bombers put up a fight, but ultimately fell 5-3 to the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings during VIJHL action on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Goal No. 1 for the Glacier Kings came just 20 seconds into the contest. Although the Bombers were able to tie things up with a goal from Casey Rutland, the Glacier Kings regained the lead by the end of the first period.

Early in the second, Comox added to their lead with two more goals in quick succession. The Bombers were able to make a game of it with Jonny Timmons scoring on the powerplay in the second period, then adding another goal in the third period to cut the Comox lead down to just one point. But the Glacier Kings added an empty net goal in the dying minutes to take the game 5-3. Port Alberni goaltender Matthew Kuhnlein made 35 saves in the loss.

The Bombers will now travel to Saanich to face the Predators on Friday, Nov. 24. Their next home game isn’t for another few weeks, on Friday, Dec. 15, when the Nanaimo Buccaneers come to town.
