The Port Alberni Bombers dropped a 5-3 decision to the previously winless Nanaimo Buccaneers in VIJHL action on Friday night (Nov. 10) in Port Alberni.

Despite leading 1-0 after one period, the Bombers surrendered five straight second period goals to find themselves down 5-2 after two frames. They regrouped in the third period, firing 23 shots at the Buccaneers net, but could only score one goal against Nanaimo goaltender Darian Feser.

Anthony Duhamel, Jett Ronning and Kai Verbrugge tallied for Port Alberni, who outshot Nanaimo 53-29.

Despite the loss, the Bombers have won two of their last four games, picking up wins against the Buccaneers on Nov. 2 and the Westshore Wolves on Nov. 8. They also managed to take the Campbell River Storm to overtime on Nov. 3, although the Storm won that game 4-3.

The Bombers now travel to Lake Cowichan on Friday before returning home to face the Campbell River Storm at the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Saturday night (Nov. 18). Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
