Almost 10,000 lbs of apples were pressed into juice this Sunday by the Pressing Matter fruit press from Courtenay.
The event, which was organized by the Alberni Valley Gleaning Project, brought the total amount of local fruit not wasted this year up to 30,000 lbs.
Juice is available for sale at the Spirit Square Farmers’ Market at Harbour Quay and at the Healthy Harvest Farm across from Co-op Gas on Beaver Creek Road.
Proceeds go to the gleaning project and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
