The popular Sail Past is coming back.

The Blue Marlin inn is resurrecting the popular winter marine event for Sunday, Dec. 15 at Harbour Quay. The event had been paused during the COVID-19 years, when many public activities were cancelled.

People who own boats of all sizes are invited to decorate their vessel with colourful Christmas lights and music, and join the parade along the waterfront at Harbour Quay.

In addition to the sail past there will be hotdogs and hot cocoa live music, carrolling, a visit with Santa Claus, fireworks and firepits. Organizers are asking people to bring donations for the Salvation Army's Christmas kettle campaign as well.

The sail past will take place from 5–7:30 p.m. with awards announced back at the Blue Marlin Inn on lower Johnston Road at 8 p.m. Prizes are being offered for first ($1,000), second ($750) and third ($500) place for best decorated vessel.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the event or who have questions may call or drop into the Blue Marlin Inn at 250-731-4320.
