The Port Alberni Funtastic Sports Society was hard at work last month, but it wasn't slopitch on volunteers' minds.
Funtastic raised $4,250 through a raffle and volunteering at the Alberni District Fall Fair beverage gardens earlier in the fall. The donations will help eight families with gift cards from Canadian Tire and Tyler's No Frills grocery store.
Then volunteers Wayne Demoskoff and Jimmy Groenendyk successfully pulled off "Operation Turkey Drop" with help from Tyler Steel and his wife Kellie from Tyler's No Frills. Between the two organizations, a Christmas dinner for 50 people was provided to the annual CMHA dinner.
The sports organization capped the month by hosting a Funtastic Winter Wonderland Skate on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024.
